Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 heavy goods vehicles to deliver goods to customers on assigned routes
• Ensure timely and accurate deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly
• Load and unload goods carefully, maintaining product integrity and security
• Maintain accurate delivery records, including logs, delivery notes, and mileage reports
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times
• Keep the vehicle clean and in good working order, arranging maintenance as needed

Skills and Experience

Skills:

• Excellent driving skills with a strong focus on safety and adherence to road regulations
• Good time management and organisational abilities
• Strong communication skills for interacting with dispatchers and customers
• Ability to handle loading/unloading tasks efficiently and safely
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and ability to perform vehicle checks
• Reliable and responsible with a professional attitude

Experience:

• Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence with a clean driving record
• Proven experience as an HGV Class 1 driver, ideally in similar delivery or logistics roles
• Familiarity with operating articulated trucks and trailers
• Experience in managing delivery paperwork and logs
• Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to HGV driving
• Experience driving on varied routes, including urban and long-distance hauls
