Job Overview

The Systems Engineer 2 takes responsibility for the proactive and reactive management and maintenance of all infrastructure across the LKQ UK and Ireland (UKI) environment.

Working as part of the LKQ Europe (LKQE) infrastructure team, this role works closely with colleagues throughout Europe, particularly the Benelux France (BNF) team, as well as shared global infrastructure colleagues in LKQ India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configuring, installing, and maintaining server infrastructure using LKQ-standard tooling and in compliance with LKQ’s global and European standards
  • Monitoring systems proactively by reviewing relevant tools and reports and addressing potential issues to prevent downtime
  • Resolving incidents or tickets related to server infrastructure and providing reactive support
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation within the designated repository
  • Applying regular patching cycles and ensuring that server configurations follow LKQ global security policies and best practices
  • Logging and obtain approval for all changes requested via LKQ Europe change management processes
  • Assisting with reporting and remediation activities for internal and external audits
  • Collaborating with the implementation team to support project delivery
  • Participating in a paid out-of-hours support schedule to ensure continuity of service.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an infrastructure systems engineer role, ideally within a highly segmented environment
  • Proven experience in supporting and managing Windows and/or Linux servers
  • Familiarity with system management and monitoring tools such as PRTG is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of server infrastructure, including virtualization platforms and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI)
  • Prior experience of remote management and supporting colocation data centers preferred
  • Basic understanding of network technologies and exposure to cloud environments and associated technologies advantageous
  • Knowledge of certificate management processes is beneficial
  • Previous hands-on experience with server hardware, backup solutions and disaster recovery (DR) strategies
  • Experience in managing third-party providers delivering managed services
  • Proficiency in supporting and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory services
